Nurse and paediatric nurses care for infants, children and adolescents who are ill or in need of care. They also advise parents regarding specific care for their children. They independently carry out doctors' orders, assist the doctor and are responsible for the documentation of patient data.
Jobs can be found in hospital wards for children, adolescents or infants, as well as in special paediatric clinics. There are also jobs in specialised practices for paediatric and adolescent medicine, health centres, residential centres for children and adolescents with disabilities, outpatient nursing homes, children's homes and short-term care facilities.
- Secondary school certificate; first general education school leaving certificate and a completed two-year course of training/education; successful completion of ten years of schooling that extends the first general education school leaving certificate; other general schooling.
