What are my activities in this job?
Dental assistants provide assistance to dentists for treatments and examinations. They are also responsible for preparatory and post-treatment work in the patient room. They prepare X-ray images and dental impressions unassisted, plan the daily schedule, set appointments, document examinations and are responsible for issuing invoices.
Where can I work?
Jobs in this field are found primarily in dental clinics, dental, oral and maxillofacial clinics, as well as in university centres for dentistry and oral/maxillofacial treatment.
What requirements must I meet?
  • Intermediate school-leaving qualification; successful completion of a ten-year programme of education & training that follows the first general education school leaving certificate.
  • General medical fitness
