Courses in German and English. The programme is organised by the Department of Social Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Hamburg in close cooperation with the Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE). The HCHE, a joint centre of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), is one of the largest centres for health economics research in Europe.

What is the content of the course of studies?

The degree program provides in-depth scientific and professional knowledge about the health care system from an economic and business management perspective. It is aimed at students with a scientific interest and professional orientation towards hospitals, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, medical technology and their associations, as well as for ministries, authorities and scientific institutions.

Specialist and management positions in hospitals, health insurance companies, in the pharmaceutical and medical technology industry, in institutions of self-administration, ministries and authorities, universities and research institutes. In addition, the Master’s program also prepares students for subsequent research work (doctorate).

What are the entry requirements?

  • Proof of a first university degree qualifying for a profession, obtained at a university in business administration or social economics with a focus on business studies, economics or social economics with a focus on economics, economics, health economics, industrial engineering or a “comparable” course of study.
