What are my Activities in this job?

The medical-technical radiology assistance works in an environment of high-tech medicine. It perform radiological examination procedures on a doctor’s instructions in order to detect and record diseases and injuries in the human body. In doing so, she independently applies X-rays: for example, in images of bones and organs, in vascular imaging and in computer tomography. In addition, medical-technical radiology assistants work in magnetic resonance imaging, radiation therapy and nuclear medicine. Here they use sensitive examination equipment that is used to cure serious diseases – such as cancer.

What are my activities in this job?

Chemical laboratory assistants test organic and inorganic substances or products and investigate chemical processes. They also produce mixtures of substances and develop or optimise the synthesis process of preparations. When analysing substances, they use various chemical and physical methods. Immunological, diagnostic or biotechnical examinations are also part of their tasks. They carry out the measurements largely independently. They record experimental procedures and evaluate them on the computer.

Chemical laboratory assistants work in a team-oriented manner in close cooperation with natural scientists and engineers.
Chemical laboratory assistants carry out analyses and quality controls, syntheses and metrological tasks independently, planning the work processes occurring in laboratories, recording the work and evaluating the work results. WHAT ARE MY ACTIVITIES IN THIS JOB?

Biological-technical assistants can be employed in very different areas. Wherever quality assurance must be ensured with the help of biological samples, they prepare and carry out the corresponding ones. They monitor the test procedures, document the results and evaluate them. From planning to execution, BTAs are proficient in all analytical procedures used to answer biological questions.

WHERE CAN I WORK?

After completing the training, it is possible to work in all laboratory areas. BTAs can, for example, research diseases in university research laboratories or test the quality of drinking water in water supply. BTAs are also needed at the Hygiene Institute or in the further development of, for example, corona tests. In addition, the educational programme makes it possible to improve the numerus clausus when taking up a specialised course of study, to shorten the period of study and, in some cases, to receive credit for university internships.

The future prospects for the BTA profession have been extraordinarily good for years. As a rule, BTA graduates have already been promised a job before the end of their training.

What is the content of the course of studies?

The dentistry course is theoretical, practical and scientific in nature and leads to the profession of dentist.

In the five-semester preclinical stage of the course, basic scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics right up to the dental preliminary examination, the basic medical subjects of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and preclinical prosthodontics and terminology are taught.
